Pool ball
When Hume talks about the white ball rolling smoothly toward the other ball we can assume that it will stop. but if someone that never played pool can't really tell whats going to happen. another thing that come into play is the way the ball was hit and where the white ball hits the other ball. for example if u scratch the other ball with the white ball then it wont stop but instead keep going in a slower moving in another direction. so then hume is wrong in saying that the ball will stop.

Walter, I think you raise a good point that I too raised in my blog on this subject. It is really hard to know with out prior experience what will happen in a situation such as this. Though Hume does not directly talk about the angles of which they hit, I had thought about this as well. Though hitting another ball straight on may cause a ball to stop, hitting it with the slightest angle would cause both balls to go off in seperate directions.
We talked about this quite a bit in class, and we discussed how we need a certain amount of experience to be able to predict what will happen, and in this case, if you have never played pool, or maybe even seen two round objects hit together, you will not be able to understand what will happen
