IDEAS

why our ideas are not capable of infinity. pg 147

locke is this passage is explaining how our ideas have no real way of reaching infinity so to an extent we cant reach the truth by adding ideas upon ideas, because as he said if we have a white color and add a whiter color it will be whiter, and if we add the whitest color it will be even more whiter, but what other color is whiter then the whitest color??? so there is a flaw in search of the truth by adding to the truth so then can we reach the truth???

Walter, I agree that no one could ever reach an infinity of knowledge because they would have to know everything there ever was to know about the world. However I feel that to add one idea on top of another is the best and most effective way to increase our knowledge. though this will increase our knowledge greatly it still could never lead to the knowledge of everything. I think there are just some things that man will never know.

i believe what Locke is trying to say is that by adding more ideas it gest deeper and deeper and you more explanation. He used the whiter top the whitest as an example thats all. The truth will get into a lie the more you add to it.
